Jesus Pimental vs. Shoji Ishikawa
Jesus Pimentel 120 lbs beat Shoji Ishikawa 119 lbs by TKO in round 1 of 10
- Date: 1970-11-05
- Location: Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA
- Referee: John Thomas
"Jesus Pimental scored the 68th knockout of his career Thursday night at the Olympic Auditorium, but not even Little Poison was satisfied with the way it was accomplished. It will be recorded as a knockout at the end of the 1st round over Shoji Ishikawa. The Japanese fighter suffered a deep cut over his left eye, which resulted in a premature ending. The cut came as a result of a butt, but it was the Japanese fighter who was responsible for the butt. He cracked heads with Pimental in the middle of the round and blood came gushing out from Ishikawa's eye brow. Referee John Thomas summoned Dr. Bernhard Schwartz into the ring at the end of the round and the doctor ordered the fight stopped, despite the protests of Ishikawa." -The Los Angeles Times
- Pimental injured his back in a car accident on Wednesday, the day before the fight and insisted on going through with the bout despite his personal Doctor's recommendation to postpone the fight.
