Jesus Pimental vs. Victor Robles (2nd meeting)
Jesus Pimentel beat Victor Robles 124 lbs by KO in round 5 of 10
- Date: 1965-05-18
- Location: Sportatorium, Phoenix, Arizona, USA
- After the bout, Pimental's manager Harry Kabakoff offered the Phoenix promoters an opportunity of pitting Pimental against Phoenix's top bantamweight, Manny Elias. However, Kabakoff wanted a $6,000 guarantee. The bout never came off, however.
- Also on this card was a 12 round bout with the Arizona state light heavyweight title on the line between defending champ Bobby Rascon and Johnny Featherman.
"Jesus Pimental needed all the strength he could muster to knock out rugged Mayico Robles in the 5th round of their scheduled 10 round duel last night at the Sportatorium. 'Little Poison,' in line for a shot at the bantamweight title, teed off on Robles with a series of big punches in the round before Robles finally went down. The clincher was a booming right to the face. Robles, probably in a stint of cockiness, asked for the chilling by sticking out his chin in defiance of Pimental's power. Pimental responded with three sharp left hooks and four rights that set up his taller foe for the climactic punch. Before that, Robles was holding his own, tagging 'Little poison' with several rights and uppercuts close in. Pimental, at the persistent command of his manager, Harry Kabakoff, worked more on the body in the 4th and it slowed Robles enough so that Jesus could score more easily in the decisive 5th." -The Arizona Republic
