Jimmy Rey won the Chicago Golden Gloves Novice 118 lb. city title in 1972.

During the 1990's, and until about 2010, Rey oversaw the Chicago Park District Boxing Gyms
along with all of the CPD annual boxing shows and City wide tournament.
