"Jimmy Bivins of Cleveland, ranking heavyweight contender, added another badly beaten opponent to his list of victims today - Curtis (Hatchet Man) Sheppard of Philadelphia. Bivins took a unanimous 10-round decision last night. Sheppard failed to land a solid punch until the 4th round. Then he caught Bivins with his 'hatchet-punch', wielded like the stroke of an axe. Bivins reeled a little but shook it off, though Sheppard continued to dominate the round until the bell. Bivins, using a left jab, kept up his attack until the end although there were no knockdowns and neither fighter was damaged visibly." -United Press
