"Harold Johnson, 177, promising Philadelphia light heavyweight, moved up among the name heavyweights tonight with a 10 round decision over ringwise Jimmy Bivins, 180 1/2, of Cleveland at Convention Hall. In chalking up his 27th victory in 28 fights, the 21 year old Johnson met Bivins' attack with a two-fisted offensive that carried him to a unanimous decision. Johnson had an answer to Bivins' rushing style of fighting - a hard right to the body. For the most part, Johnson was the counter-puncher, although occasionally he elected to carry the fight to his veteran opponent." -Associated Press
