Jimmy Cannon was a popular sports columnist for the New York Post and New York Journal-American, as well as in syndication.

He has been inducted into both the World Boxing Hall of Fame, in the "Expanded Category" (Writers & Historians & Photo Journalists), and the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
