"Cisco Andrade beat Jimmy Carter in a lightweight fight, but neither the winner nor the loser was happy about the outcome today. Andrade piled up points throughout the bout with his speedy left jabs and occasional right hands. He also was credited with the only knockdown of the fight, even though Referee White didn't allow it. That came in the 4th round when Carter, his nose bleeding, staggered Andrade with a sharp right to the jaw. As Andrade reeled toward the ropse, his left hook connected to Carter's chin and the former titleholder went down." -United Press

- "He wants a rematch. Let him make the weight and we'll give him a rematch. Even if we got the title, we'll give him a match. But let him make the weight first." -Ralph Gambina, Andrade's manager.
- "I thought I got robbed. I know I staggered him, and sure, he was throwing those left jabs. But I was blocking half of them or more. I want a rematch with him, and I want a title fight, and the IBC told me I ought to have one." -Jimmy Carter
