Pelon Garcia, 154, Mexico, was awarded a fight with Jimmy Curl, 156, San Antonio, in a peculiar third-round ending. The boys fought rough and finally Curl wrestled Garcia to the floor. When it seemed Curl would be given the fight on a knockout, the crowd became threatening, threw rolled papers and surged around the ring. One man climbed up and slapped Curl. Referee Bert Brannon considered matters and was pulled out of a hole when Curl stepped out and said "Give Garcia the fight." Brannon did.
