Jimmy Dupree 174 lbs beat Eddie Owens 171 lbs by TKO at 2:26 in round 7 of 10

"Jimmy Dupree, 173, of Jersey City took a 3-1 lead in his series with Eddie 'Red Top' Owens, 171, of Springfield, Mass., when he came off the brink of defeat to stop Owens in 2:36 of the 7th round before a crowd of 2,215 fans at the CYC. Owens survived a left-right that had staggered him in the 1st and a trip to the canvas in the 2nd from a short, jolting right to the chin. The 6th was almost curtains for Dupree with Owens firing a short right hand counter over Jimmy's left. The blow landed flush on the right cheek of Dupree and sent him to the floor, it also opened a deep wound under the eye. Dupree was dazed when he arose and the blood was flowing heavily from the cut. Eddie tried for the finisher but time ran out on him. In the 7th Owens was throwing everything at the damaged eye when suddenly, Dupree connected with a long left hook and down went Owens. He got up but a right crashed home and Eddie hit the deck again. When Owens stumbled up again Dupree tore into him with a left-right-left flooring him for the final time as referee Dick Woehrle stepped in and called a halt." -Boxing Illustrated, April 1973 issue
