"Former heavyweight champion Jimmy Ellis launched another comeback bid Wednesday night with a 7th round TKO of 'Memphis' Al Jones. The referee stopped the fight at the end of the 7th round after Ellis had set Jones up with a left and then decked him with a right hook to the head just before the bell. Jones was never really in the fight, although he hung on gamely until the TKO. Ellis floored him with a right to the head in the 1st round and knocked him down again with a left hook to the body in the 6th." -United Press International
