"Undefeated Jimmy Heair scored a 5th round knockout win over Clemente Mucino Thursday night with a flurry of blows that left the Mexican fighter unable to finish their scheduled 10 round fight at the Olympic. With only seconds left in the 5th round, Heair pinned Mucino against the ropes and flailed away until the bell sounded. At the bell, Mucino slipped through the ropes to the canvas and had to be carried to his coner by his assistants. he was groggy and bleeding heavily from his lower lip which had been punctured by one of his own teeth. Earlier in the round, Heair put Mucino down with a left-right combination for the mandatory eight-count, but the Mexican fighter bounced back and slugged it out toe-to-toe until he was pinned to the ropes." -United Press International
- This bout was postponed by 6 weeks due to the broken nose Heair sustained in his last bout with Chango Carmona.
