  • "The power that Jimmy McLarnin packs in his hands has blasted another obstacle from his path, and at the same time relegated to the scrap heap the title aspirations of Stanislaus Loayza of Chile. Last night a capacity crowd of 18,000 saw McLarnin belt the courageous little South American into insensibility in 4 rounds. Feeling out his opponent cautiously in the first two rounds, and landing nothing more damaging than an occasional jab, McLarnin lured the Chilean into making a rushing, charging fight of it that led to the latter's downfall in the 4th. A paralyzing left hook to the chin sent the Chilean reeling and a right shot him into the ropes from which he bounded back and sprawled on his face in the resin while the referee tolled the fatal ten." -Associated Press
