Jo Weiden was of Austrian-Jewish heritage, per the March 2, 1948 edition of the Dundee Courier. Weiden survived several German Concentration Camps per the October 17th, 1948 issue of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Weiden won the European (EBU)Heavyweight Title in 1950 defeating Stephane Olek in June 1950 over 15 rds. Lost the title several months later in early 1951 to the UK's Jack Gardner. Weiden's victory over Olek was probably his most significant one in his career.
