Joe Bell lost to Teofil Pollex by PTS in round 6 of 6

  • Date: 1967-02-26
  • Location: Baltiska Hallen, Malmo, Sweden
  • On the Bo Hogberg vs. Gil Diaz in Malmö, Polish- born Teofil Pollex (4-1-0 ), now a Swedish citizen, outpointed veteran Jamaican Joe Bell (16-22-3) over 6 rounds.

Pollex, normaly a fighter with a classical upright stance, tried to beat the slugging Bell on his own game by diving in head first. Pollex received two warnings for low head, but Pollex protested and told the referee that it was Bell who pushed his head down in the clinches. Bell soon received a warning. Despite this, the men continued their billy goat style to the end.
