• Calzaghe controlled the fight with quicker hands and aggression. He worked the body well in Round 1 and landed a clean left hand to the jaw of Lawlor as the round ended. In Round 2, Calzaghe smothered the retreating Lawlor, backing him into all four corners of the ring, until the referee eventually stepped in and waved an end to the bout.
