There is a Joseph Colletti age 21 in the 1920 census in Poughkeepsie and age 31 in the 1930 census. In neither census, however, does he list his profession as boxer. This same Joseph Colletti is on a ship returning from Havana 7th Nov 1922, and lists his birth date as 30 sep 1898 and his birth place as New York, NY. He is living at 180 Mills St. in Poughkeepsie. I feel confident this is the Joe Colletti the boxer. For one thing he is listed as a "laborer" in the 1920 census and yet here he is going to Cuba. Far more likely for a prizefighter to go to Havana than a day laborer.
