"Brian London Tuesday night became the new British heavyweight champion. London knocked out Joe Erskine of Wales in the 8th round of their 15 round title fight. He also claimed Erskine's British Empire crown. London from the start bore in viciously. Erskine met him at first with solid left hooks and soon had London's nose bleeding. But the challenger got home with a string of good punches in the 4th. In the 7th, Erskine came out of a clinch with blood streaming from a severe gash over his left eye. it was the beginning of the end. London kept after him with huge rights. He finished the Welshman in 1:47 of the 8th after putting him down for a nine count and flooring him with another mighty right." -Associated Press
