From the May 1967 issue of The Ring:

"Doug Jones came to Toppi's Arena and suffered the worst beating of his career when Joe Frazier stretched him out for the full count in the 6th round. Frazier scored the knockout with a left hook to the jaw. The veteran Jones dropped flat on his back. His handlers and doctors helped him to his feet. They could have counted 100 over him. Jones, despite his refusal to admit that he was beaten, seldom landed a blow as Frazier slugged and banged away with both hands to the body. He later switched to the head for the coup de grace."
