- Date: 1894-04-19
- Location: Beach's Hall, Baltimore, Maryland, USA
Sparring at Pastime Club.
The Pastime Athletic Club held its sparring matches at Beach's Hall last night and the hall was packed. Many visitors who Came to Baltimore to attend the base-ball game were present.
William Wilson and Bob Fitzsimmons, the featherweights, sparred seven rounds before the referee gave the decision to Fitzsimmons.
The event of the night was the go between Billy Young and Billy Duke. Duke was in shape, Young was not. Young was beaten in six rounds, though he made a good showing. A match is probable between the two. Dave Horn and Joseph Gans, the latter colored, wound up the sport. The boys went at it so earnestly that Police Captain Schultz stopped the fight in the third. Gans had outpointed Horn, but it was impossible to say who would have won.
