Gans Wins Another Bout.

Joseph Gans, the colored light-weight champion boxer of the South, added another scalp to his belt last night at the Monumental tournament-room by defeating Jack McDonald, of Newark, N. J. Gans was to have fought young Fitzsimmons, but Fitzsimmons failed to appear, and McDonald was substituted. McDonald looked every inch a winner, and he had the better of Gans in the first round.

He divided honors with his colored opponent in the second. A stiff body punch of McDonald's made him a prime favorite in the third round. After this round McDonald was sized up by Gans and the four hundred spectators. His work was nearly all short-arm swings or full round arm swings, which, most of them, went too far around.

Gans was getting in some telling blows. In the seventh and eighth rounds McDonald's right forearm was hurt. Then he dropped his hands and said his arm was broken. The fight was awarded to Gans by Referee Frederick Sweigart.
