The Monumental Bouts.
At the Monumental Tournament rooms last night two set-tos took place. The first was between the colored boxers, Joseph Gans and Paul Johnson, the Kangaroo. The second was between Frederick Sweigert and James Daly. The exhibitions were of six rounds each.
Gans clearly outpointed Johnson and landed where and when he pleased. In the first round Gans landed 13 times on Johnson, while the latter placed only 2 blows. In the fourth round Gans knocked a plaster off Johnson's sore eye and nearly closed the eye.
The go between Sweigart and Daly was decided a draw by the referee, Wm. Stiles.
