It is believed that Angelo Triosi turned pro in 1945 under the name Joe Girard. In 1946-1947 he abandoned the pro ranks to return to the amateurs where he captured the 1947 160 lb New England Golden Gloves Championship under his real name Angelo Triosi. Shortly after winning the New England Golden Gloves he returned to the pro ranks under the name Joe Girard. He retired from boxing in late 1947 due to poor eye tissue.
