According to a marriage certificate in digital form found in the California, County Marriages, 1850-1952 database on the FamilySearch website, one Joe B. Guerrero, a 22-year-old native of Mexico and a "Boxer," married one Ruby Gamboa, a 17-year-old native of California, in Los Angeles, California on October 7, 1930. Both lived in Downey, California.
Note- Based on information found on other records, it appears that Ruby actually was 15 years old at the time of her marriage to Joe.
According to his petition for naturalization in digital form found in the California, Federal Naturalization Records, 1887-1991 database on Ancestry.com, one Joseph Basilio Guerrero, originally Jose Basilio Guerrero, was born in Santa Rosalia, Baja California, Mexico on March 6, 1908. He was five feet, five inches tall; weighed 155 pounds and had two ears which were described as "slightly cauliflower." Employed as a foundry worker at the time, Guerrero resided with his wife, Ruby; daughter, Esther; and son, Maurice in Downey, California. As Jose Guerrero, he emigrated "by foot" to the United States from Juarez, Mexico with his legal entry taking place in El Paso, Texas on July 1, 1911. Also according to information on the petition, Joseph and Ruby Guerrero were married in Los Angeles, California on October 7, 1930.
Accompanying the petition was an affidavit signed by two witnesses, attesting that they were acquainted with Guerrero since March 1, 1941 while he had been residing in the United States.
