Name: Joe Marcus
Alias: Leaping Joe
Hometown: Portland, Oregon, USA
Birthplace: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
Referee: Record
Pro Boxer: Record

Joe Marcus was Portland's top Lightweight from 1927 until 1931, when he went back east. He was of Austrian ethnic roots, and had moved from Pittsburgh as a young boy. He resided in Portland's Albina neighborhood.

Marcus fought in a style in which he frequently hopped in and out against his opponents. He also used a lot of footwork to confuse his opponents. His style was not well liked by the fans in his native Portland. It was felt that he fought to the level of opposition, looking good against top level foes like Tommy Cello and Wildcat Carter, but looking less impressive with fighters who were not quite as good.

After his boxing career he trained fighters in Tex Salkeld's stable.
