Joe Mize (Father & Son)

Joseph Shelby Mize Jr. 1898-1951 the father & Joe Addison Mize 1924-2006 the son have been said to be the only father & son to ever participate in a major Golden Gloves tournament in the same year. In 1940 Joe the father at 41 years old & Joe the son at 16 years old both fought in the Texas Golden Gloves at Dallas,Texas, included in the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions. A few years later Joe the son served in the US Army in the South Pacific durring World War ll.
