Norway's best amateur boxer in the post war aera Bjarne Lingaas made a late Norwegian pro debut at the age of 32. Lingaas, who had wins over Ingemar Johansson and Pekka Kokkonen as amateur, hadn't been in the ring since 1960 when he had 2 fights in the USA (1 win, 1 loss),but had worked as sparring partner for Floyd Patterson in the preceding months.
Lingaas was given Nigerian Joe Palooka, named after the famous American cartoon-boxer hero. Palooka had two KO-losses behind him in 1964 and was no match for Lingaas. The Norwegian's punches went straight through Palooka's tight but ineffectual guard. A left-right ended it all in the 2nd.
