The Dane Joergen Hansen had failed twice in recent years to win the European titles in welterweight and light welterweight,but was by no means a washed up fighter when he went in with Norwegian strong man Kristian Hoydahl at the Jordal Amfi in Oslo. Hansen outboxed the tatooed Norwegian completely. Combinations in the 7th left Hoydahl groggy. A closer look after an 8 -count made the referee stop the fight.
The fight was for the "Scandinavian Welterweight title".
Two years later Joergen Hansen won the EBU welterweight title.
