- In a heavyweight bout featured on a nine bout card in Sweden, former IBF Cruiserweight champion Alfred 'Ice' Cole, age 44, made a successful comeback after three years inactivity with a six round split decision win over Joey Abell. Cole, now 36-14-3, from New York, traded punches in center ring and landed just enough more blows to win over Minnesota's Abell, now 20-3. With a Cole headbutt in the second round Abell suffered a small cut that bled profusely, and the injury seemed to signal the turning point in the bout.
