"Middleweight contender Joey Archer of NY survived an early eye cut and pounded out a unanimous 10 round decision over Argentina's Farid Salim in their fast-paced bout Saturday night at MSG. Archer took an early lead, although Salim cut him badly over the left eye in the 2nd round. Referee Arthur Mercante called a doctor to Archer's corner, but the fight continued. Archer bled heavily in the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 10th. Nevertheless, Archer was too much for Salim, taking the last round and the fight. There were no knockdowns." -Associated Press
