"Joey Archer, NY, whipped Mick Leahy, an Irishman making his US debut, in a 10 round nationally televised bout in MSG Saturday night. Archer had his problems with Leahy - principally because the Irishman spent most of the 10 rounds rushing in, his arms flailing wildly in all directions. Three times Leahy was on the canvas and once he toppled out of the ring trying to duck under Archer's left leads. In the 6th Leahy rushed in and opened a cut over Archer's right eye. He paid for that a few seconds later when he rushed pell-mell into a left hook and went down for the first of his three visits to the deck. In the 7th he hit the deck twice, both times from lefts to the stomach. Had Leahy not bulled in on Archer time and again, throwing the latter off stride, he might not have lasted the 10 rounds." -Associated Press
