Joey Cam turned pro in 1949 without the benefit of any amateur experience and was a hit from the start. He was a talented boxer-puncher, who possessed an excellent left hand and a hard right cross. He was managed by his brother Nunziato “Nuno” Cam who owned and operated gyms for many years; produced many boxing shows; and worked as a ring announcer in Boston for over 30 years.
