Joey DeJohn 164 lbs beat Henry Lee 160 lbs by KO at 0:15 in round 3 of 10

  • Date: 1952-07-31
  • Location: War Memorial Auditorium, Syracuse, New York, USA
  • Referee: Lou Scozza

Seeking revenge for an upset loss to Lee last October, DeJohn stalked his opponent for two rounds looking for an opening. At the start of the third round, Joey spotted an opening and fired a devastating right uppercut, which landed flush on Lee’s chin. Referee, Lou Scozza “counted nine over Lee and then waved his hands slightly as Lee struggled dazedly to regain his feet. Joey and the fans failed to see the referee’s signal as Scozza did not touch either fighter, and Joey ripped back with a right to the chin and Lee hit the deck again.” There was little action in the first two rounds as the men were testing one another. In the third round there was only two punches thrown, both by DeJohn and both times Lee went down. 0:15 of the third was the official time. A crowd of 5,464l, paid $16,245.
