"Bobby Dykes bounced into the middleweight title picture Wednesday night when he pounded out a unanimous decision over Joey Giambra, the 5th ranking contender, in a fast 10-round main event at the Miami Beach Auditorium. Dykes, a hot and cold performer during the last year, opened a wide lead in the early rounds and stood Giambra off with strong counter-punches as the Buffalo, N.Y. battler rushed him furiously in the late stages of the fight. But Giambra, needing a knockout to win, was outpunched in almost every exchange." -Associated Press
