"Joey Giambra, 156, of Buffalo, N.Y., finished strong Wednesday night to earn a close and unanimous decision over Johnny Sullivan, 159 1/2, of England in a nationally televised 10-round bout here at the War Memorial Auditorium. Giambra staggered the brawny Briton in the 7th and 8th rounds with deftly timed left hooks to the jaw of his ever-pressing rival. Those were the big moments of the hard-fought scrap. Joey bled from the nose in the 2nd round. Sullivan was cut over the left eye in the 5th." -Associated Press
