    • "Joey Giardello, 159, impressed promoters with his 5th round knockout of 2nd ranked Bobby Boyd last night. Giardello laid Boyd, 160, onto the canvas three times, once in the 1st round and twice in the 5th, finishing him with a right cross for the full count of 10. Boyd suffered broken bridge work, a lost molar and was spitting blood. X-rays today showed Boyd's jaw was fractured. Boyd lost the lower left molar when Giardello floored him and put him through the ropes in the first of two knockdowns in the 5th. He came staggering out of his corner after an eight count and caught the Giardello right cross that finished him at 2:25 of the round." -United Press
