Described as one of the most uneven Garden main events ever. Durando served as little more than a heavy bag for Giardello, who hit him left jabs and hooks, throughout the contest which cut Durando over the right eye. Durando's lone highlight came in the 5th, when he made Giardello "woozy" from a left hook.

Post fight comment
- "We beat Durando easier than Paddy Young did. If Bobo olson don't want to fight Randy Turpin, we'll take it." -Tony Ferrante and Carmine Graziano, co-managers of Giardello (it was stated that the both of them were so excited that it was hard to tell who was talking).
