Trainer Fernando Hernandez entered the ring too soon while Angel Hernandez was taking a count in his own corner after a knockdown at the end of round two. Unlike James Kirkland versus Carlos Molina, the bout did not stop-but Angel Hernandez was later disqualified anyway.
Angel Hernandez was disqualified by referee John O'Brien for hitting below the belt, butting and other repeated fouls after repeated warnings and point deductions. Hernandez also suspended by the Illinois Athletic Commission after their bout.
