John Dallas, age 60, died of injuries sustained while sparring with a Harry Baker (or Barker) 9 October 1888 at Lilydale, Australia. During a boxing exhibition that included the Slavin brothers and Jack Hall, Dallas was sparring with a pupil. He stopped, then collapsed. Cause of death was apoplexy. Baker was charged with assault, but released.
