According to his obituary that appeared in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, March 5, 1952, Dukelow had not only been a National Amateur Welterweight Boxing Champion he had also won a National Open Bicycle Championship at one mile in Erie, PA. He had been employed by the Bausch and Lomb Optical Company for over thirty years. The nickname "Medals" was given to him by Terrible Terry McGovern. After retiring from boxing he took up and excelled at Baseball, trapshooting and wrestling. He had operated the Dukelow athletic club promoting fights in Rochester, NY.
