"British welterweight champion John Stracey was shaken up by Cuby 'Top Cat' Jackson of Detroit via a defeat in three rounds. It was the third setback in 38 fights for Stracey, and one where he came out with a long cut over his left eye as well as a loss, an injury expected to require plastic surgery. John had delivered numerous jabs that shook Jackson and combinations that kept him scampering. As the American was being forced into his corner he plunged forward with the blow that split Stracey's eyebrow." -World Boxing, May 1974 issue
