Lewis won the first seven rounds, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer outboxing and outfighting Adamick, by a "country mile." Adamick won the 8th round, as Lewis appeared to tire. In the 9th round, Lewis appeared to regain command to start the round, but was caught by a right hand to the jaw by Adamick, that sent him reeling into the ropes. Lewis, who appeared out on his feet, managed to grasp onto Adamick until he was pried loose by the referee. Lewis managed to make it to the bell, before Adamick could follow up. Adamick went for the knockout to start the 10th, and hurt Lewis again with a right hand, but Lewis again held on. Lewis recovered from this blow, though, and was able to send Adamick staggering back with a right hand of his own.
