Len Harvey 172 lbs lost to John Henry Lewis 174 lbs by PTS in round 15 of 15

  • Date: 1936-11-09
  • Location: Empire Pool, Wembley, London, United Kingdom
  • Referee: Jack Smith

"John Henry Lewis easily disposed of the challenger for his light heavyweight championship offered by British Len Harvey, last night when he battered the Briton around and did everything but knock him out in a 15 round bout in Wembley Stadium. Lewis, 173 1/2, to Harvey's 172, had things all his own way from the 3rd round to the finish. He came out unscathed except for some slight damage to his eye, which had been injured in training. After a couple of slow rounds, Lewis began pounding away with both hands and drove Harvey around the ring. One of the Briton's eyes began to swell as early as the 5th round and his nose began bleeding a few rounds later." Associated Press
