    "Johnny Famechon of Australia retained his British Empire featherweight title last night when he stopped Canadian champion Billy McGrandle in the 12th round. The end came after 2:49 of the 12th with Famechon completely outclassing the Scottish-born Canadian who was nearly three pounds lighter than the champion's 125 1/4. It was Famechon's first defense of the title he won from John O'Brien here in November. Famechon had punched McGrandle to a standstill when referee Terry Reilly stepped in and stopped the contest." -Reuters
