Attached to the page is a news item clipping about Gill's mother having three sons serving in the U.S. Army and a fourth who was subject to the first call of the draft. One of her sons was William S. (Johnnie) Gill, "a welterweight pugilist" who was serving in Company K, Eighth Infantry in York, Pennsylvania. The news item with a 2nd of August date and a York, Pennsylvania dateline was in the August 3, 1917 edition of the Baltimore Sun.
