- The first-known mention of Hogan is in the Nov. 25, 1920 Tacoma News Tribune. The TNT mentions that boxer Joe Bonds was developing the 19-year-old Hogan: "Although he is still green, Bonds says he has lots of fight and a mighty stiff punch." Hogan was to make his pro debut the following week against Jack White.
- He died at age 21 in Tacoma of either blood poisoning, influenza, or suffocation from an infection of the lungs. The local newspaper reports vary.
