There is a report in the Edmonton Journal that on Sunday December 12, 1920 in Saskatoon, noted pugilist Johnny McIntyre was stabbed three times during a brawl with one Donald Alexander McLaren. The following Thursday it was reported his condition had improved so greatly he was now out of danger.

Johnny was the younger brother of famed local champion Mickey MacIntyre.
