Johnny Prescott 190 lbs lost to Eduardo Corletti 198 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Date: 1967-10-17
  • Location: Royal Albert Hall, Kensington, London, United Kingdom
  • Referee: Harry Gibbs

"Eduardo Corletti, 198 1/2, is being groomed for a crack at the heavyweight title, but if his performance against the ring-worn Johnny Prescott, 190, is any criterion, he has a long way to go to reach that objective. Corletti was well ahead against 'Playboy' Prescott at the end of 10 rounds but at no time did he look like top class. Prescott forced the bout from the start, pressing the Argentinian back around the ring, and it was plain to see that Corletti's wins over Joe Bygraves, Billy Walker, George Chuvalo and Gerry DeBruyn had no special significance." -Ring Magazine, February 1968 issue

  • Referee Harry Gibbs was the sole arbiter, and he had Corletti the winner by a score of 49 3/4 to 48 3/4.

Post-fight comment

  • "He don't look like a world's No. 10 to me. If he is No. 10, then there is still a few quid for me in the game." -Johnny Prescott
