- Date: 1973-11-10
- Location: Community Center, Tucson, Arizona, USA
- Referee: Jay Edson
"Paco Flores wants another chance, Johnny Rico seems agreeable. The possibility of a rematch between Tucson's top welterweights appears almost certain after Saturday night's action-packed battle before 4,720 fans at the Tucson Community Center Arena. Rico, the aggressor, came away with a unanimous decision in the 10-round non-title fight. The Arizona welterweight champion floored Flores with a solid right to the jaw in the 1st round. He kept up an aggressive attack the remainder of the bout, winning the majority of the inside exchanges. Flores' best round was the 5th. He stopped Rico with a solid right, forcing his opponent to hold on. Rico came back strong in the 6th and regained control. Rico escaped without any marks from the many exchanges. Flores, however, had a puffed left eye and his back and sides bore red welts from Rico's close-in work." -Tucson Daily Citizen
