Johnny Rico 153 lbs lost to Frank Flores 153 lbs by UD in round 12 of 12

"Paco Flores injured both hands in gaining a unanimous decision over Johnny Rico in a 12 round title fight Saturday night at the Tucson Community Center Arena. Rico had the edge in the early going, despite the fact he wasn't as aggressive as in their November meeting. He staggered Flores with a solid right in the 4th round. Paco started using his left jab more in the 6th round and began to assert himself from that point. Flores' best round was the 9th when he stunned Rico with a left. He landed several more solid lefts before the round was over and Rico was trying to force clinches to stop the attack." -Tucson Daily Citizen

  • Unofficial Daily Citizen scorecard - 117-116 Flores
  • Attendance - 5,117 (a state record for an indoor fight card)
  • Gate - $30,000 (breaking the previous state indoor record of $28,126 set in their first fight)
