German top middleweight Klaus Stockmann (75 kg )from Hamburg ( 25-4-8) faced the Norwegian middleweight Johnny Romsaas ( 76,3 kg, record 9-1-0 )in an 8 rounder. In an explosive opening round the Norwegian visitor dropped Stockmann for an 8 count with a left hook. Stockmann rose to shake Romsaas badly with a left hook. Both men punched wildly and went into a clinch. Referee Karl Perpeet went in to clean up and was himself hit by a left from Stockmann. Perpeet shook off the blow like an old pro to the amusement of the 10 000 crowd in Kiel's Ostseehalle. Stockmann counterpunched effectively at the always forward pressing Norwegian, hitting more often than his opponent. In the 3rd Romsaas was hit three times in a row, but according to German Box Sport stood upright " like an oak tree ". In the 7th Stockmann attacked on his own initiative, hitting and beeing hit by a grinning Norwegian. One minute of enthusiastic applaus followed the last bell before Stockmann got the verdict.
Main event was a fight for the German heavyweight title between Gerhard Zech and Peter Weiland. Promotor: Theodor Wittenbrink.
